Top Ten Tuesday: Releases of 2015 I meant to get to but… just didn’t
There are,
of course, several books that came out in 2015 that I wanted to read but never
got around to. I’m actually pretty impressed with myself for crushing the ones
that would have been at the top of this list in the past week or so! So go me!
Here are the ones that await crushing:
Lair of Dreams (The Diviners #2) by Libba Bray
Guys… I can’t
even with this one. There is NO
EXCUSE. I have been waiting for this book for forever and I even got on ARC at BEA! And yet… I still haven’t read it. I think that the
size of the book has been intimidating me and I’ve been just continually
passing it over. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. THE FIRST ONE IS SO GOOD.
City on Fire by Garth Risk Halberg
I think
this is another case of giant-book syndrome. I got an ARC of this one at BEA as
well and was really intrigued by it. It’s gotten so much buzz, guys! This one
is a historical fiction about New York City in the ‘70s before the big
blackout. It sounds amazing but alas, it’s still sitting on my shelf unread.
Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman
ANOTHER book I got at BEA and still haven’t read. This
is another head-scratcher. It’s been getting so much buzz and sounds utterly
amazing. I can’t even hazard a guess as to why I haven’t read it yet. I have no
idea. I hope to get to it soon so I can squee about it with everyone!
Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
It’s been
quite a while since I’ve read anything by Sarah Dessen. I think the last time I
picked up one of her books I was in high school. This particular book really intrigued
me so I picked it up as soon as it was released. But... again… It’s still
sitting on my shelf all lonely like. DON’T WORRY, BOOK! I STILL LOVE YOU.
Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes #2) by Sarah Raasch
This is
another sequel that I haven’t read yet. I don’t know what’s up with that. I
know I’m pretty awful at reading series, but I read the first one a year ago.
Isn’t time to jump back in? C’mon Beth! Stop being such a series-slacker!
Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein
I’m not so
mad at myself about this one. I only got this one in December! The publisher
was kind enough to send me a copy. So… I should probably read it soon! And I
definitely plan to. It sounds absolutely amazing. I love Carrie on Portlandia.
I’m super interested to learn more about her.
The Gap of Time by Jeanette Winterson
This book
is a retelling of Shakespeare’s play A
Winter’s Tale. It’s actually not one of his plays that I’ve read, but I do
know a little about it. I’m really intrigued to see where the author takes this
one! Again, the publisher was kind enough to send me a copy. I’ve been meaning
to get to it for ages. Hopefully this is the month!
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
I’ve heard
nothing but amazing things about this book. It’s Goodreads rating is crazy
high! I’ve only read one or two of Hannah’s books before, but this one
definitely piques my interest! I love historical fiction, esp. involving the
World War Two. When this one come out in paperback, it’s mine!!!! (Or, when the
holds line at my library stops being so ridiculous).
Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff
I’ve heard
some mixed things about this one, but mostly good. This has me pretty
intrigued. I’m curious to see where I fall in the mix of things.
I haven’t
heard too much about this one, except from a few bloggers who have been raving
about it. I have, however, also seen it make a few different best-of lists! So,
it has definitely earned a spot on my TBR.
Honourable
Mention: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
If we’re
being honest, I haven’t actually read any of Rowell’s books. This one, however,
really intrigues me. More so than her others. Although I do plan to read those
too! The YA ones, at least.
How about you? What books did you let fall by the wayside in 2015?
