Fangirl Favourites Friday │ How to get Away with Murder

I remember hearing about this show last year when it first came out. However, I was already into so many shows I wasn't interested in adding any more to my queue.

After Viola Davis’ Emmy win, I had the show on my radar again. Then, last weekend, I noticed that the first season had been added to Netflix! It was like fate! I obviously had to watch the show now. So, I decided to give the first episode a try.

Then… within 24 hours I had finished watching the entire season. IT IS SO ADDICTIVE.

If you live under a rock and don’t know the premise of the show, let me give you a run down.

Annalise Keating (Davis) is a professor at a prestigious law school. She’s a hard ass and people are pretty terrified of her. She drives competition amongst her students by awarding a trophy to the best student; a trophy that can be turned in for immunity from a test or assignment. To further the competitive spirit, five of her students will come work with her at her defence attorney practice. From there, they all get wrapped up in a murder investigation… AND IT GETS CRAZY.

If you haven’t watched this show yet, I definitely recommend you check it out. And, if you get hooked like I did and watch it in 24 hours, you’ll be able to catch up and watch the second season live! It’s only two episodes in! :D
So. Why is this show so awesome you ask? Well, let me tell you! Viola Davis is all kinds of amazing, as evidenced by her Emmy win. She is an excellent (and terrifying) Annalise Keating! The plot is also super intriguing and engrossing. I especially like the way it’s laid out in two time lines: the present, and however many months ago when it all began. As you watch, a little bit more gets revealed as to how they got to where they are. I could not stop watching. Just couldn’t. And I didn’t have to work so it was okay :D Also, the characters are all really diverse, as one expects from a Shondaland production. And it’s awesome! I love the characters and all they each bring to the table. It’s also just a really interesting and original take on a murder mystery story for TV. DEFINITELY WATCH IT. WATCH THE CRAP OUT OF IT.

I will note though that it does gets a bit sexy and scandi at times. I think it's like TV 14 or something in Canada. Just to let you know.

Have you watched this AMAZING show? What do you think? What are some of your favourite shows on the air?
